February 2006

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas season!  I’m sure it was busy but hopefully everyone was able to relax at the end of each day and enjoy some time with your kids.

Just a few bits of PTO business to report this month.

The Christmas Teachers Luncheon went off beautifully and was really appreciated.  The teachers at St. Albert always send wonderful Thank You notes to me after these luncheons and I wish I could pass them on to each and every one of you that volunteer your time.  Although I cannot, please know that they are all grateful for your generosity!  Thanks in particular to Brenda Blincoe, Stacie Nahstoll and Lisa Thieneman for all their hard work in planning and phone calls, etc.  Also a special thanks to Sueanna Carroll and Masterson’s Catering for their donations of this very special meal.

If you will remember the PTO had a Buck for Jeans Day in December to raise money in order to purchase 140 sweatshirts for the students of St. Paul’s school in Mississippi.  Your children are so generous and we raised a huge portion of the money for the sweatshirts!  The remaining balance was donated by Tim Martin and Albers & Crafton Law Firm.  A huge thanks to them for their involvement in this very special project!  The students of St. Paul’s were featured on Good Morning America with Robin Roberts shortly after receiving the sweatshirts and wore them during the news clip.  They held signs thanking the students of St. Albert - your children are awesome!

The PTO (you) purchased a storage rack for the balls and volleyball/tetherball poles to moved from inside to outside during recess.  This rack was a necessity since it had been taking so long to retrieve the equipment on a daily basis.  If you are in the gym, especially during Jump Rope for Heart, make sure you check out how neat the storage rooms are now.  They should really be a huge help for Ms. Gass!  Thank you Lisa Higgins and all the others who helped Ms. Gass organize the storage space!  While I’m on the subject…I have heard through the grapevine that there may be a need for more rope twirlers in certain grades.  If you are free, please volunteer.  It is a fun way to see your kids in action.

Last but not least…yet another example of the generosity of the students of St. Albert:  The 5th and 6th grade football team this year sold T-Shirts with the saying “St. Albert Viking Football - It Takes More to Be a Champion”.   They were able to raise $1,440 and then donated the money to Boys Haven.  Great effort guys!!!

Have a great month of February and a Happy Valentines Day!
